i am needing help to find an hotel near the base. my son is graduation for boot camp.and we want to find an nice and clean palce to stay for an coulpe days.thanks
This is an old post, but I will be attending my son%26#39;s boot camp graduation on April 15 and would love to have the benefit of anyone%26#39;s past experience. We%26#39;re thinking of staying in either a bed and breakfast, or a decent hotel near Fort Jackson. Any recommendations. THanks.
Claussen%26#39;s Inn in Five Points is great. So is The Whitney on Devine Street. I would avoid most hotels near Ft Jackson as they are generally dirty.
Enjoy your stay in Columbia.
Hello my mother-in-law and I are attending my fiancee%26#39;s graduation from boot camp are there any suggestions for the hotels that are closest to Fort Jackson
ello, My mother-in-law and I are looking for hotels closest to the army base. My fiancee%26#39;s graduation is On April 22 and we would like great hotels that are close to Fort Jackson
Msgrayson,
Most of the hotels/motels near Fort Jackson aren%26#39;t very nice. I%26#39;d suggest staying downtown, which is much more interesting than the Fort Jackson area. There is a newly renovated Marriott on Main St. near the state capitol. There%26#39;s a relatively new Hampton Inn in the Vista (Gervais St.) which is supposedly pretty nice. Other hotels are also in the vicinity.
Downtown Columbia to Fort Jackson is usually about a 15-20 minute drive or cab ride, depending on time of day and traffic. This isn%26#39;t a huge city, so I wouldn%26#39;t consider staying somewhere close to FJ to be an issue.
Msgrayson, also check out the Whitney Hotel (http://www.whitneyhotel.com/). It%26#39;s a little closer to Fort Jackson than the Main St./Vista area. The Whitney is in a nice residential/commercial part of town with good restaurants and shops nearby.
