Driving from Anderson to the fair this Oct,. and would like to know any thoughts on a hotel close to the Fair and or airport., since we will be flying out from there. Thanks

In the downtown Columbia I could recommend the Inn at USC and the Marriott. The Embassy Suites is convenient to both the fair grounds as well as the airport.

Near the airport, there is a Comfort Inn as well as a Sleep Inn (although I have never been in these).

There are several really nice hotels downtown, which is VERY close to the fairgrounds area (about a mile):

* Hampton Inn on Gervais St. (# 1 ranked hotel in the area on Trip Advisor) - www.hamptoninn.com

* Courtyard by Marriott (on Assembly St.) - www.marriott.com -- this was JUST renovated, and the renovations were completed about a month ago

when in the Columbia area- I usually stay at Homewood Suites near the zoo- love it.
