Hilton Head for kids?

I am looking for a destination for a family getaway. I am looking for a vacation for 5 families with kids ages from 3-10. Any information about what there is to do with the kids and where the best places to stay would be very much appreciated. We a looking to go in July

Thanks

Hilton Head for kids?

We just got back today, and I would certainly say that Hilton Head is more than appropriate for children. All restaurants, even fancier seafood ones, accomodate children easily. Bike rentals are cheap and make for a fabulous experience (around $18 each for the week or bring your own). There are even bike rentals that come with children%26#39;s seats or tandem bikes for smaller children. You can also do dolphin cruises (you WILL see them) for as little as $12 an adult/$6 a child. Try the Gypsy boat out of wonderful Sea Pines area. There are tons of shops that are unique and delightful that welcome kids. You can also do deep sea fishing for much less than I%26#39;ve seen in other areas (around $50 dollars for 4-5 hour cruises). They offer kid specific cruises in the summer months where kids get to pull up crab pots, etc. The beach is one of the prettiest I%26#39;ve seen and can make for a full day easily! You can also rent kayaks, view the lighthouse and many beautiful marinas, which always have kids activiites or music playing. There are multiple free or low cost nature reserves around the island, and cheap, but impressive, mini-golf courses. I just asked our 2 kids what has been their favorite vacation to date and they put HIlton Head at the top of their list-above Disneyworld! I%26#39;d have to agree! We stayed in the Coligny circle area in a timeshare unit but if you could get in I%26#39;d recommend the Disney Hilton Head resort because it has oodles of daily free or low cost activites on its resort. Hope this helps!

In addition to the activities posted by travelinmonfor2 here are some other ideas.

Forgot the wonderful magician! Thanks for the information!

We ate at the Kingfisher Seafood and Steak House in the Shelter Cove Harbour (next to Disney resort). They had a wonderful magician on the night we were there (Wednesday). Kids loved watching him dump sand out of a child%26#39;s shirt, light a wallet on fire, deface a dollar bill and then fix it before their eyes, etc. This restaurant also has a great early bird special for 15.00 dollars that includes an appetizer, choice of 6 entrees, dessert/wine, etc. You have to eat before 6 pm, which was easy to do with young kids! No coupon was needed for this meal either!
