Wyndham Ocean Blvd, No. Myrtle Beach

Heading to Wyndham Ocean Blvd, No. Myrtle Beach on Aug 25 for a week with my family of 4. Read some negatives regarding parking situation, the pools and the attitude of the staff. Can anyone who has been there RECENTLY elaborate on this? Also, we are flying down and renting a car so we cannot bring beach supplies. What do people do for chairs, umbrellas, etc..? We heard stories of guests going to the local Wal-Mart and buying cheap supplies and then leaving them at the resort when they go home. I%26#39;d rather not do that if I don%26#39;t have to. Anyone have any ideas?

Resort staff confirmed that we are staying in Tower 1, oceanview, floor #11 or higher. Has anyone stayed in this new building who can fill me in about it?

Any suggestions, replies or advice is appreciated.

The really peak crowds should have died some by then but there will still be a lot of people staying there. WOB is nice with nice amenities. The furniture could be more comfortable but it was bought to hold up under much traffic. WOB has nice looking buildings and a great beach in a very nice ';North'; Myrtle Beach location; the city of NMB. Summer crowds are heavy and the overflow lot fills during peak season; it%26#39;s %26lt;100 yards from the oceanfront buildings. They do have large 4-5 seat golf cart to help take you to your building; I always walk. Like all large condo buildings, people take carts in their rooms a day ahead of departure during peak months. I prefer off season tremendously. I own a condo just down the street and they are smart enough to make the carts so they are too tall to fit through the front door. No one hides carts that are not being used. You can rent very nice beach chairs and umbrellas from the city, set up for you on the beach. There%26#39;s also a few rental companies that rent them. I%26#39;ve stayed there 5-6 times in different condos.

If you look at the dates of the reviews you%26#39;ll see all of the positive ones are from off season. The negative ones are from peak season. We were there the second week of July and it wasn%26#39;t what I would call a relaxing beach vacation. Very, very crowded. Last week of Aug should be a bit better since a lot of kids will be back in school by that time.

Pools shouldn%26#39;t be as crowded. Wait for elevator shouldn%26#39;t be as bad. I wouldn%26#39;t hold my breath expecting parking space in the oceanfront building. Probably be parking in second row building which is still better than third row where we ended up parking all week.

We did see the large golf cart shuttle. While we were there it was only used during the day for the time-share sales visitors. They shut it down in early evening when it would have been useful to paying guests.

The place is huge. Takes a day to get your bearings around the place. We checked in on a Sunday and we were very confused. Following Sat when the new arrivals were checking in we saw people walking around with little ';map'; they give you at check-in. We were giving directions when a few days earlier we were the ones lost..

First two floors are all one building. Those are parking levels. You%26#39;ll get to know them as P1 and P2. Next floor is Level 1. That%26#39;s where most of your activities and pools are.

Facing the ocean the tower to your left will be Tower 1. First floor of Tower 1 is fitness center and indoor pool.

Middle tower is Tower 2. First floor has activity room, game room, gift shop and Palmetto Bar out by the pool. Decent sandwiches at the bar at a decent price. Surprised me.

Tower to the far right is Tower 3. First floor there is computer room. You can get on-line and lets us know how it%26#39;s going during your stay.

Check-in is on P2.... At check-in they make it sound like that office/lobby is the hub of the building. I don%26#39;t think we set foot in it again the entire week we were there.

';IF'; things go like they should you will pull into parking garage and up ramp. When you turn at top of the ramp you%26#39;ll be in front of check-in office.

When we checked in it was so busy the glorified WalMart greeter guards closed the ramp. People pulling into building had no idea what to do or where to go. Once we found a place to park check-in was a breeze. Unloading and parking was the fun part.

95% of the staff are top notch. Maintenance guys are there in a matter of minutes if there%26#39;s a problem. Only ones we had major problems with was a female guard patroling the pools. Very large chip on her shoulder. Bartenders at poolside bar and grill weren%26#39;t as friendly as you would expect a bartender to be.

Photograher on site. Somewhere during the week you%26#39;ll be offered a free picture. Either at check-in or at the sales meeting. Be sure and go for the picture. Early morning appointment is best. Kids are rested and not cranky. Nobody on beach so background is wide open. Most people go with khaki pants and white shirts so start shopping now.
