What to do on a kidless night in Myrtle Beach?

While we%26#39;re at the beach with our friends each couple is going to get a night to go out WITHOUT the kids.

My wife and I were wondering what to do. We love shows but have seen the Carolina Opry just a few weeks ago. We saw the preview of Good VIbrations and it doesn%26#39;t float our boat. We%26#39;ve seen Cirque Du Soleil, and Legends. NO interest in seeing the show at Alabama Theater and my wife said if we did Dixie Stampeed or Midevil Times she%26#39;d want to take our son.

I know hart1 talks about Crocodile Rocks all the time but someone mentioned it%26#39;s very expensive even after you get in. We love music and it%26#39;s enticing but I don%26#39;t have money to throw away. What is it actually like? What happens when you%26#39;re there?

We like to have a few drinks but prefer to save money and drink at the beach house where we can make our own much cheaper. So do you have any suggestions?

The other couples that are going are having no problems choosing since they have never been to Myrtle Beach.

Help! We%26#39;d be doing this on Thursday August 23rd.

Thanks

Ron

Ron ~ I really like Crocodile Rocks.

However ~ I would not reccomend this place if you don%26#39;t care for ~

adult humor ~ nasty language ~ woman dancing around drunk. LOL!

We always have a blast ~ but it is not for the faint of heart. The guys up there playing the piano are a HOOT. Depending on the crowd ~ you may see things you wouldn%26#39;t expect.

You sit ~ if you get there early enough to get a table ~ and listen and watch the 2 guys carry on duets / songs ~ etc. It is a real comedy thing too. Goodness ~ don%26#39;t them know it is your birthday or anything.

If you want a song played ~ you write it on a napkin / paper and send some cash along with it. The bigger the cash ~ the more likely they will play your song. The will play anything ~ from Johnny Cash ~ Bob Segar ~ Snoop Dog ~ Elton John ~ country.. etc.

Again ~ if you want to sit ~ go early. By the time 11:00 rolls around ~ it is normally standing room only ~ and they have reached their fire limit. Then they let folks in as some go out.

Hope you check it out~

Might sound crazy but might consider doing same stuff you do with the kids. You%26#39;ll find it%26#39;s a whole different ball game as a couple.

A stroll through Barefoot Landing and actually being able to spend time in the stores you want to see. Not having to worry about what the kids are doing. Where they%26#39;re at. Hope they don%26#39;t break anything.

Might even do a round of putt-putt. Again. Easier as a couple. Not keeping score for four or five. Making sure kids aren%26#39;t bothering other groups while you%26#39;re trying to putt. Breaking up arguements over who%26#39;s turn it is or who moved their ball too far. Retreiving balls from water hazards.

Stop on the way back to condo for cold beer or margarita.

Catch the 8pm show at Comedy Cabana, enjoy a night-cap at Bummz and a moonlit stroll on the beach...

Croc Rocks is alot of fun, and it can be VERY busy! So, if you do want a good seat, you will have to get there fairly early...or be ready to stand and wait (along with about 500 other people) for a seat to open up. The guys there that play the pianos are fantastic...and pretty funny. Drinks there are a bit steep....but most drinks are at Broadway at the Beach.

I would even think about Murrells Inlet....lots of great music options there, and with the marshwalk, and all the fantastic restaurants. You could dine at one...walk around and listen to the different music, scope out another for dessert or a nightcap....

:)

Crocodile Rocks is not for everyone, what ';floats our boat'; may not float yours. We are not romantic dinner people at all, we would never go to Collectors Cafe or the Library, not our thing. We rarely if ever give $ for requests, there are plenty of people who are willilng to pay for a song. We also don%26#39;t pay the cover to get in, so for us its very cheap entertainment. We know going in that most likely we will hear the same songs we hear every week, but thats part of the deal. We go strictly for the people watching and the comedy of the piano players. They are very talented as well. Its our hang out and we know most of the people that work there, that is what makes it enjoyable for us. Its crowded, it can be loud. We are always there early and sit on stools, we never sit at a table, don%26#39;t like the view from the tables. We are also only beer drinkers and my husband is always the designated driver so our bar tab is not expensive, we normally have a great night watching everyone else be drunk and have a good time. So that is what makes it fun to us. A quiet evening, sipping champage is NOT going to do it for us.

You don%26#39;t mention the amount of time allotted for your night out. Georgetown has couple different tour companies that offer cruises -- (www.rovertours.com) offers a 3 hour 5pm departure to barrier island and Georgetown Lighthouse. Adults $28

or Lowcountry Plantation Tours 843-477-0287 offers Evening Harbor Tours 7pm $20 adults.

For Hart1

We love Croc Rocks too but have not been in the summer. When you say early, what would you suggest. We have offered this as an evening option for our guests that are coming in for our son%26#39;s wedding. We warned them in advance about the humor. We are planning on going at 8pm. Is that too late? I feel the same way you do about the place. I could care less about the drinking and I don%26#39;t care what songs they play. They%26#39;re fantastic entertainers and that%26#39;s what we go for. Thanks for any suggestions!

Friday nights are less crowded then Saturday nights for Croc. You did not tell me when, obviously after Labor Day crowds thin out some. July at Croc Rocks has been incredibly crowded. We get there when the doors open at 7pm, so we can get our preferred stools. The entertainment starts at 8. The tables will most likely be gone by then but plenty of stools and side tables and once bottom is full the open upstairs and lots of stools around the edge. I have seen the downstairs fill up before 8 and I have seen it not full at 9, just depends. If its a summer Saturday then I suggest 7pm, you will have several parties reserving tables, usually bachlorettes, so that now limits the open tables for people arriving. We talk for the hour prior to the show, either to employees or visitors we meet sitting next to us. Always meet nice people there.
