If you are trying to AVOID Wal-Mart, what is a nice grocery store in the vicinity of Monterey Bay Suites *6800 block OB* Thanks. I hate fighting the crowds at Wally World.

Pitsy, try Kroger it%26#39;s a nice store. IT%26#39;s in restaurant row, not far from Monterey Bay. For those in the Maryland-DC area, I found out last time I was in Myrtle Beach that Kroger%26#39;s is owned by the same company as Giant Food and they will accept your Giant card and give you sale prices with it.

Kroger is a great option...and not far from Monteray Bay (I do like their veg/fruit section and wine area) You do have a Food Lion that has recently been updated and pretty decent...they too have a ';savers club'; called MVP, and with as many tourists that frequent that store, the applications are there as you walk in.

A great little truck farm stand is there on the corner of 79th and Kings. (parking lot of Eckerds) Great peaches, melons, corn, beans, tomatoes....nice selection, and FRESH!

why avoid walmart?

Certain times of the day WalMart can be crowded and if you don%26#39;t need to buy everything under the sun and only need groceries then I would avoid WalMart as well. Obviously summer Saturdays are more crowded then normal but if you go early they are not too bad and usually later in the evening.

Thanks for all the suggestions, especially the little farm stand. Great tip! Wal-mart is great, don%26#39;t get me wrong, but when I%26#39;m on vaca...don%26#39;t want to be there for hours getting groceries, that%26#39;s all.

we fond food lion to be a good place for food shopping. they have remodeled all the food lion stores and they look nice and you don,t have to wait for ever to check out and the prices arn,t all that bad eather not like Bi-low stay aways from them they are way to high

Food Lion is alright if you like to pay $5 for a gallon of milk.

oh my , but tat,s not the stores fault thats the middle man , just think what the farmer gets for the milk and then by the time you buy it look and see who made all the money on it . no you not me and not the farmer nor the store

Here%26#39;s a little secret for those that shop at Krogers or Bi-Lo. Let them know that you are on vacation and they%26#39;ll scan a bar code to give you all of the store discounts. There is no need to sign up for the discount card!

I shop Food Lion frequently and most of their stores have remodeled and I find them as competitive as any other grocery store here, particularly their meat section, they mark meat down everyday-put orange sticker on them, their sell by date is expiring and I always buy my meat like that, been very pleased. I don%26#39;t recall seeing $5/gallon for milk at Food Lion-here at the beach you saw that?
