Hi...We are looking to take our first trip to Hilton Head next summer. We love staying in oceanfront suites with separate bedrooms (with doors that actually close and are separate from the living room space). A 1-BR suite/condo would work, but a 2-BR suite/condo would be ideal. We also love having a full kitchen with a full-size refrigerator as opposed to a mini-fridge. HDTV is definitely a huge plus! Any ideas for a good (at least 3-star) hotel chain right on the oceanfront? After having rented a beach house privately this summer in New Jersey, and it being a nightmare, I promised my husband that next year, it%26#39;s name-brand only for our family! Thanks in advance!
Best 2-BR Oceanfront Suite at a Nice Brand Name Hotel?
Marriott has a few to choose from. Go to www.vacationclub.com. They are timeshare resorts, but they also rent out to the general public. The4y are all two or three bedroom units with all the amenities you could want.
Best 2-BR Oceanfront Suite at a Nice Brand Name Hotel?
Thanks, Borntotravel! The website really helped. I appreciate your help!
One more question...Do any of those Marriott resorts stand out from the others as far as newness, location ,etc.? Oceanfront with a balcony on a higher floor is key! And a minimal walk to the beach is very preferable, too.
Thanks for any additional information you can offer.
Rozzi
Rozzi, you certainly are an earlier riser! If I%26#39;m not mistaken, the newest one is Surwatch and parts of it might still be under construction. I know it has a beachfront pool, but I don%26#39;t remember how close to the beach the buildings are. I believe the next newest one is Grande Ocean. This also has a beachfront pool and again, I%26#39;m not sure about the building positions. I can tell you that Hilton Head has strict restrictions about building height. I believe it is around five stories, so you won%26#39;t find any ';high rise'; hotels/resorts. The Monarch at Sea Pines as well asBarony Beach Club (I believe) are also ocean front, but have been there a while. If it were me, I would book at the Surfwatch or Grande Ocean. I would call, instead of booking online to inquire if ocean front rooms might be available.
Both of these have bar, beach, fitness center, sundry/mini grocery store, playground, sauna, outdoor pool(s), full kitchens with washer/dryer (Marriotts are usually full size and they are a great convenience for laundering beach towels every day), and a vcr and/or dvd player, tv%26#39;s in each bedroom and the family room. The Marriott Grande Ocean also has bicycle paths, and indoor pool, as well as tennis courts.
We are timeshare owners and take five or six times a year. At least four of them are in 2 BR timeshare units at five star resorts, such as these. Whenever possible, I try to stay at Marriott. They are very clean, nicely appointed, and so very, very comfy. I have found that you can%26#39;t go wrong with them.
If you have any further questions, let me know. Have a wonderful vacation!
I forgot, I believe both of these have balconies too.
The Marriots mentioned are timeshares. The company does rent out villas in these complexes, but be aware you will be subjected to a sales pitch.
In order of age, the Marriotts are
Monarch
Grande Ocean
Barony
SurfWatch
of the above Grande ocean has the best location. Some of the Barony%26#39;s are not on the beach.
Since these are timeshare properties, you can not be assured that they will have availabilities in the prime season.
There are rental condos available with hotel amenities.
The two best are the SeaCrest Resort in South Forest Beach
or the VillaMare in Palmetto Dunes.
If you are looking for ocean views, the best bets are Captains Walk in Palmetto Dunes, or Turtle Lane Club in SeaPines.
I suggest you contact the Vacation Company, or Island Getaways for excellent villas in these complexes.

I think the best place to stay is in the Captains Walk Condo%26#39;s in Palmetto Dunes. We have stayed in nice 2 or 3 bedroom places there. If you must stay in a hotel i have heard the Westin is the best hotel on the Island but have never been.
I, too, must sing Marriott%26#39;s praises! We are timeshare owners and have traded in to Marriott resorts on more than one occasion. We have ALWAYS been completely satisfied!
We will be staying at the SurfWatch in late October. Can%26#39;t wait!
