I have no connection to any realty firm and never used this one, so this is not an endorsement, but with so many posts and people (myself included) concerned about erosion at IOP, I thought this Web site may be of interest:

pictures of beach erosion - various Wild Dunes propertiesThat%26#39;s Mother Nature at work. It%26#39;s been going on since forever. If more sand isn%26#39;t brought in (think$$$$$$$ in tax money) those condos will be undermined.
These aren%26#39;t very old buildings. I guess they were built with the idea of Making a Buck and leaving the trouble for the next guy. Lets hope that the SC coast doesn%26#39;t get any hurricane trouble for the next few years.
pictures of beach erosion - various Wild Dunes propertiesInteresting photos. I%26#39;ve been wanting to go there sometime in the future, mainly because I%26#39;ve been to many of the other beach islands in South Carolina already (and I prefer places new to me), and its proximity to Charleston. However, these photos don%26#39;t make it look too appealing. Are all the beaches on the island encased in these white sand bags?
We always go to Hilton Head and we were thinking of trying something new. We liked the proximity of IOP to Charlestown. We have 3 small children that spend all day on the beach, biking and boggie boarding. These photos make rethink the need for change...
We stay at Sea Cabins which is closer to IOP main area (South of Wild Dunes). We were there last Sept and there were no white bags. The erosion must be confined to the Wild Dunes area.
We stayed at Seascape in Wild Dunes July 14-21, 2007. We were not told about the beach erosion issue before we went. It was quite a shock - there is only access to the beach a few hours around each low tide. The 50-gallon sand bags are the only thing protecting the properties right now. Properties in Wild Dunes that are affected are Ocean Club, Seascape, Tidewater, Port-o-Call, and Summer House. We had to drive from our condo down to Mariner%26#39;s Walk where there is beach access. The condition has worsened greatly since the pictures above. Do not stay in these condos if you want beach access.
Actually the beach at Summer House wasn%26#39;t that bad. It was definitely limited at high tide, but there still was some beach there %26amp; people were still able to set up their chairs %26amp; umbrellas %26amp; use it. I was there July 14-21 also. Right next door to Summer House, to the north, is Port O Call %26amp; because it is built right on the beach, they had no beach at high tide. Why they built that place so close to the beach is beyond me.
