Restaurant Recommendations for 8/13 - 8/17

We are going to be visiting Myrtle Beach the week of August 13.

And deciding where to eat is always a monumental effort. My parents (late 60%26#39;s) want to eat every meal at the K%26amp;W cafeteria. My son (11) wants hamburgers or chicken tenders. And I (mid 40%26#39;s divorced dad who%26#39;s trying to make vacation memories for three generations) like seafood, but am trying to make everybody happy.

Can y%26#39;all give me some suggestions on good local restaurants? I try to avoid the chains, and would rather visit those places unique to Myrtle Beach. I don%26#39;t mind spending a little bit more for a nice meal, but I can%26#39;t afford meals that would approach the 3-digit mark.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

Where are you staying so we don%26#39;t send you driving to all areas of Grand Strand?

That%26#39;s so funny...K %26amp; W for every meal. I can identify...arrive at 3:30 for the early bird specials %26amp; that could be my in-laws!

If you are doing one nice (aka more expensive) meal, the Gulfstream Cafe or Carolina Roadhouse are good choices.

K%26amp;W here, my parents ONLY want to eat there when they visit. River City Cafe is not bad choice, my parents did like their hamburgers, you can go to Barefoot Landing and sit outside overlooking the Intracoastal Waterway and Barefoot Marina, that should be something everyone likes. You can get a cold beverage there as well, you may need it with parents/kids! There are several in MB, surely one will be close to your location.

Murrells Inlet or Calabash, NC-both fishing villages with plenty of restaurants that generally have chicken fingers/hamburgers, steaks and of course good seafood. Many of the restaurants in Murrells Inlet have great view of the marsh, they also have what they call marshwalk that connects many of the restaurants along the marsh. Nice walk if your parents are up for it and not unbelieveably hot like it is today-

Thanks for the suggestions so far!

We%26#39;re going to be staying at the Landmark Resort down toward the south end of the beach. However, on previous vacations, we%26#39;ve been known to drive all over the place looking for restaurants where everyone can find something to eat.

Again, I really appreciate the information!

I%26#39;ll second hart%26#39;s suggestion the River City Cafe @ Barefoot Landing - be sure to sit on the deck out back, its a nice view! I%26#39;ve also heard a lot of good reviews for 5 Guys Hamburgers, we%26#39;re planning on trying there next trip. If you%26#39;re looking for a night in at the resort - I%26#39;d recommend ordering pizza from Ultimate California Pizza, they have the best pizza that I%26#39;ve tried there - and there are other items on the menu if someone didn%26#39;t want pizza. We had a lunch at Margaritaville that wasn%26#39;t too expensive, and a fun atmosphere for something different.

Villa Mare on 79th and 17th behind the Bank Of America. For lunch try the back deck of Hamburger Joes accross from Barefoot.

Tony you never miss a change to get a plug in for Villa Mare! Hey TM you are leaving day after tomorrow! So we will plan to meet one day at Hamburger Joes, will call you on Monday ? and confirm a date/time. Can we get a discount at Villa Mare-since you have connections?! I have not been there, we could meet there!

I really do appreciate everybody%26#39;s suggestions! Keep %26#39;em coming!!

I%26#39;m new to the Trip Advisor site but I%26#39;m getting to like it alot. It%26#39;s great to have the opinions of real people, instead of just relying on what you see in the brochures. I%26#39;m getting some good ideas, so we won%26#39;t have to sit around starving and saying, ';Well, where do you want to go?';

Thanks again everyone!

This site can be addictive. It is a sight of opinons and there are plenty of times where some of US butt heads but thats okay. We have 1800+/- restaurants here, if we all agreed and liked the same things we would only need 1 restaurant and look how many flavors if ice cream, not just vanilla. We all have our likes and dislikes about the beach, certain areas, certain restaurants, but that is our opinion and you can take it with a grain of salt. What I hate, someone else loves, vice versa. I think we all try to give you the best answers we have available in our ';bag of knowledge';. I have not been to every restaurant, not stayed in very many resorts, I can give you some thoughts on the area they are located in AND I will! but I think reading the MB Hotel review to the left gives you the best info from the people who have stayed at that particular location. AND no matter what resort, no matter how many stars, someone will find something wrong with it and someone will love it.
