Searching where in SC to stay with family for Thanksgiving

We want to get together for Thanksgiving but tickets to fly got a little pricey. So SC is 1/2 way for all of us. We can push through and do the drive in a day. So I%26#39;m looking for suggestions of where to stay with a family. There will be 8 adults, a toddler, and an infant.

Is Myrtle Beach okay for a family. What about Garden City? Any suggestions would be great.

TIA

Laura

Historic Charleston, SC is a great historic city. Perfect for sightseeing and walks! That would be my pick. Myrtle Beach is okay, but very ';touristy';.

Kiawah Island and Seabrook Island are wonderful for families at Thanksgiving. Lots of people who, like ourselves, own property there, make it a point to be there with their families for Thanksgiving.

If you want a feast, reserve Thanksgiving dinner at Kiawah%26#39;s The Sanctuary Hotel. Otherwise, you can pick up prepared Thanksgiving food, or anything that you want to cook for yourselves in you home, condo, or cottage, at Newton Farms (excellent grocery store in Kiawah/Seabrook%26#39;s ';Freshfields'; shopping center.

Weather-wise, it might still be warm enough to swim. More likely, you will enjoy other outdoor activities, like walking or bicycling on the beach. Also, Kiawah and Seabrook are an easy 40 minute drive from Charleston%26#39;s, historic district.

The coast of SC certainly offers some great choices. Myrtle Beach is by far your ';flashiest'; city, bright lights, putt putts, seafood buffets, outlet malls, restaurants, very family friendly. Charleston is a beautiful city, but might not offer AS much for families to do. Are you wanting more quiet then Traffic and noise then Kiawah is beautiful location. Myrtle Beach is Atlantic City, Vegas, Disney World all kind of rolled into its own unique bundle. Garden City is just slightly south of Myrtle Beach, beautiful beaches, nice homes, you are still close to everything. I just don%26#39;t think you are going to make a really bad choice here. I would determine exactly 1/2 way for everyone. ALTHOUGH remember that MB is a bit more difficult drive-Charleston can be reached by I-26 very easily. Myrtle Beach is not accessed by Interstate, only Highways.

KiawahVilla,

My extended family is coming to visit us at Seabrook Island for Thanksgiving (Can%26#39;t wait!!).

Is dinner at the Sanctuary at the Ocean Room? Not sure if the Ocean Room will be ready for my two nephews;-). It is nice to have options though...just in case the ';women fo%26#39;k'; don%26#39;t want to cook Thanksgiving dinner.

Keep the suggestions coming!

Hi, GreatEscape -

I agree about kids in The Ocean Room. The Jasmine Porch will a have buffet, which might be more appropriate. The other restaurants at the golf clubs will also be open ... don%26#39;t know the menu.

In the past, The Sanctuary Hotel has done family Thanksgiving dinner in the big ballrooms, instead of in The Ocean Room, so there were bigger tables and more room for wiggling youngsters. It was a set menu, at one price for adults and the other for kids. I haven%26#39;t heard about this for 2007, but you might inquire.

Also, last year Hege%26#39;s did Thanksgiving dinner, and I know that Newton Farms has lots of great holiday food for take out.
