Hilton Head at Thanksgiving. Any suggestions?

We, four adults, a 12 year old boy %26amp; a 17 year old boy, are thinking of going to Hilton Head for the Thanksgiving break. Can any one suggest some nice places to stay? Should we rent a home or try hotel rooms?

What types of things are there to do in Hilton Head in November? Is it worth going at that time of year? We are all Floridians so we are not at all concerned about beach time. We would like some cool air %26amp; fun activities!

Howdy Sarah from Texas. We too are going over Thanksgiving break. I have also posted for some info. Have not recieved any replys. We are staying at the Westin however. It looked a little out of the way (which we like) and it has recently been updated. There is one huge resort there, Pine-something? Sounded way to big for me. It has lots of homes to rent etc. Keep looking, maybe someone will respond to us. Good luck and hope you have a fabulous trip.

Hi

If you are looking for great food ,and good fun drive a short while to Lady and Sons in Savannah Ga about 45min for HHI. The restaurant is owned by Paula Dean (Food Network). The food is the best. Savannah is a great place as well. I have included the website check it out you might like it. My family and I love it.

There are alot of house to rent within Sea Pines, ShipYard, Port Royal Plantation. I have never rented a house, but i have stayed in villa and hotels. My favorite villa is Marriott Grande Ocean. I have stay here if extended while and it was enjoyed by all. Also It has an indoor pool. Ground are beautiful ocean front and very relaxing. Also try Egret Point by Spinnaker, Waterside Resort by Spinnaker very roomy and Daufuskie Island Resort %26amp; Breathe Spa Luxury Beach Cottages and Beachfront Villas. Hope this helps

There are almost as many things to do in HH in November as there are in the summer. The weather is often very warm. Bring your shorts! Biking, golf, tennnis, boating. Many of the boat tours don%26#39;t run that time of year, but dolphin can be still seen off-shore. Check with local tour guides. Hilton Head is becoming a year round vacation destination. The ocean water may be a bit chilly for Floridians, but the water may even be warm enough for the tough skinned!

There are a number of hotels and restaurants that offer Thanksgiving buffets. The large hotels such as the Hilton and the Westin have very good buffets, which offer something traditional Thanksgiving fare, and seafood.

You may all enjoy a day trip to Savannah. Take the kids on the evening ghost tour. It is fun for all, and then yes, have dinner at the Lady and Sons, but be prepared to wait in a long line, especially Thanksgiving Weekend.

Where to stay? There are tons of houses for rent, hotels, etc. Check with services such as ';Island Getaway'; or ';Resorts International'; to look for houses or villas torent. Many will have heated pools, so swimming will be an option too. Check into properties called ';Lands End';. These homes are located at the Southern most end of the island. They are with in walking distance of tennis courts, pool, and the South Beach marina - where there are restaurants and shops. Try to get a house on the sound side, so that you can walk out in the morning as see dolphins.

Enjoy my island. I have lived here for almost 10 years and it is great year round!

I agree with HHmom since I also live here, but suggest you look for a rental online. Check out VRBO.com or cyberrentals.com. You%26#39;ll find lots of short term rentals by owner there.

If you want to Golf or play tennis, consider either Sea Pines or Palmetto Dunes. In Sea Pines look for a place near Harbor Town, which while not near the beach It is the center of the resort. Sea Pines has three public courses, including the famous Harbor Town Links, home of the Heritage Tournament. The Sea Pines tennis center is home to Stan Smith, former Wimbleton Champion, who gives a clinic each Thanksgiving.

Palmetto Dunes sports 3 Courses also, and you can also play at 2 additonal courses in Palmetto Hall. If you want beach rentals look at Villa Mare or Captains Walk. If you are looking for something a little less expensive, consider Queens Grant, Inverness, or Turnberry. The last two are a short walk to the Fazio Golf course. they also have a top ranked Tennis Facility.

Shipyard has the Dennis Van der Meer Center for Tennis and a 36 hole golf facility. Most of the Rentals in Shipyard are Condo%26#39;s, but Evian is a nice complex.

South Forest Beach is another good spot for Condo Rentals. The best complexes are the SeaCrest, Shorewood, or Ocean One. Van Der Meer also has another center on DeAllyon Road.

someone mentioned Port Royal. There are lots of homes there, but they do not allow Short Term rentals. The Westin Hotel is outside the gate and has a number of condos that they rent, but I still would recommend staying in Sea Pines, Palmetto Dunes, or Forest Beach.

Hi! We too are going during the Thanksgiving break and we will be staying in Palmetto Dunes in a villa at Villamare (check out VRBO, that%26#39;s where we are renting ours from). It%26#39;s ideal for us since we have children who love to swim and they have and indoor pool. We came last year and went to Lawton Stables for pony rides and petting zoo, played miniature golf, went to Savannah on the Saturday after Tgiving because they had the boat parade w/all the boats decorated for the holidays and we took a Santa Cruise, and of course shopped (it was tax-free shopping weekend). South Beach Marina is decorated for the holidays w/Santa and ';snow.'; Last year it was in the 70s so we played on the beach (too cold for swimming) and went shell hunting. We also walked through the Sea Pines Forest Preserve and the kids love seeing all the different birds etc.
