hilton head in august with kids

my wife and i are travelling to hilton head in august with our 3 and 5 year olds. we are looking for a place to stay that will be fun for the kids, ie. kids pools, activities, etc. looking at the marriott grande ocean, but very expensive for two bedroom unit. does anyone know of villa rentals that also have good kids activities, as this might be less expensive option. also is disney resort a good bet. thank you. m.l

We have a 2 bedroom villa in Palmeto Dunes. It is completely equipped with everything from DVD player to outdoor grill to washer/dryer. No planned activities for kids but close to beach with pool and tennis in villa complex. Bikes, canoes, kyaking easily available. Plenty of room for a family of 4. Disney Resort uses the same beach as our villa but is not as close.

Hilton Head in August can be HOT! There%26#39;s usually a good breeze from the ocean, but children that age can get badly sun burned quickly. Be sure to use plenty of sunblock.

Disney is the best for kid activities by far. Great pool area, snack bar and pier right at the resort. They have a shuttle to take you to and from the beach. Disney is actually on a small Island at shelter Cove harbor. Lots of children programs at Disney. By the way--At the Disney beach house, there is a pool and snack bar right at the beach for Disney guest only. If you want to drive or bike (on bike paths) to the beach house, it is only one mile. Hope this helps---We do not work for Disney--we are resisdents on the Island. The villa rentals have no activities on property for kids--it would be up to you to find activities to do.

August is a great time to go south! If you go late in the month, the local schools are back in session and the resorts are less crowded. Two summers ago, we stayed at the Marriott Beach and Golf Resort with our 3 kids, then 3, 5, and 9. They had a great time! At those ages, you could be at a Holiday Inn a mile from home, but if there%26#39;s a pool and food, they%26#39;re happy! We liked the Marriott, but we were able to stay using reward points, otherwise it is very expensive, and the food at the resort is also pricey. But there are plenty of great restaurants of all types up and down the island. BE SURE to take your kids into Harbortown to see Shannon Tanner%26#39;s show! We loved it - silly kid%26#39;s songs and audience participation - it%26#39;s great. He also runs a show on a dophin watch ship out of the harbor, I think once a week. Have fun!

Sea Pines...we stayed there in August 03....It has everything imaginable for a family to do there. The prices of a villa are reasonable, although it may not be directly on the beach, they are very nice.

I am also going in August, but with 2 teens 14 and 15. They do like to golf. I am wondering about the rates during August?
