Crabbing?

I%26#39;ve been interested in doing this for quite some time, but never have...

My parents are coming down with us, first week of October... can anyone steer me in the right direction on crabbing? My dad who loves to fish in the north is VERY EXCITED by the idea of giving crabbing a whirl, but none of us know a thing about it.

We have a place in Palmetto Dunes...any places to go around there? Should we go at it alone or do you reallly recommend a guide, etc.

Thank you so much!

Crabbing?

You will need a crab net or trap. you can get these at the local stores like Walmart or possibly the general store in PD. You will also need some bait. Most people use chicken necks.

You drop the net in the water wait some time maybe 20 minutes and pull up. If you are in the right area there will be crabs in the net. toss the babies and keep the biggies.

You should be looking for Blue Crab.

I suggest you do not crab in the PD Lagoons, but go to the Broad Creek areas or on the May River. the problem in the lagoons is the fertility of the water. There is much runoff from the golf courses which infest the fish.

Crabbing?

Thank you so much Stan! So we don%26#39;t need a crabbing license or any of that? Awesome, we%26#39;re very excited!
