Would like to spend week of 1/20 near Charleston, take our bicycles and golf clubs. Have 10 %26amp; 13 year old boys. We all love to site see. Prefer historic location for lodging but many of the resorts I looked at are beautiful. Any suggestions duing this time period?
January near Charleston
In January, you are unlikely to get good beach weather for swimming and sunning, but walking or bicycling on the beach should be enjoyable. Golf will be fine, although I sometimes see the golfers huddled under blankets in their golf carts!
Kiawah Island has many miles of bicycle trails, plus a firm-packed ten-mile beach for cycling. There are five golf courses, including the famous Ocean Course. Other Kiawah activities in January include canoeing and kayaking on the river and creeks. Kiawah is 40 minutes from Charleston%26#39;s historic district and even more accessible to the Ashley River plantations.
