Our family (3 children under 6y/o) is looking for a condo/villa in June; our ';wants'; include: close to beach (on beach /short walking distance); safe beach (have heard Folly Field gets its share of riptides/undercurrents) and not too crowded; pool; kitchenette a must; 2 bedrooms; safe bike trails. We stayed in Sea Pines at Marriott Monarch once, and it was PERFECT, but too pricey now with 3 kids. What we loved in Sea Pines was the beautiful trails to ride/walk, the uncrowded beach (but maybe that was because it was in Sept?); and the option of entertainment/activities at Harbour Town.
Here%26#39;s what I%26#39;ve found so far in Sea Pines: Bluff Villas; Plantation Club; Beachside Tennis... Can anyone advise? It%26#39;s overwhelming to choose without really knowing.
Also, outside of Sea Pines, I found a villa (name??) that is along Singleton Beach in Hilton Head Resort. Any feedback about that area (as I%26#39;m thinking this may be close to the rip-tide area mentioned above)? How does area (%26amp; biking) compare to Sea Pines?
Any suggestions are appreciated! Thanks so much.
Hilton Head rentals
Can%26#39;t help on the Sea Pines places - we always rent a house on the beach when we go. But, yes, you want to avoid Singleton Beach as it is near the inlet. In terms of biking, of course the beach is the best place to bike but all the plantations have nice paths to bike on.
Before our extended family grew as large as it is, we used to rent Evian villas in Shipyard. Very nice place to be; short ride/walk to the beach; reasonable beach (small but walk down a bit to get away from any crowds); hotel there where you can get drinks and snacks; near Coligny Plaza for shops and restaurants and other activities; neighborhood pool. The only issue you might face is that many of the villas are on lakes/lagoons - we loved being able to fish from our backyard but with small kids, you might want a place not directly on the water.
Hilton Head rentals
they have hotels close to beach... dont know about condos
Try Palmetto Dunes. Look for VillaMare, Captains Walk, Hamptons, Windsors and Barrington. All these are Oceanfront.
In the Forest Beach Area, SeaCrest, Ocean One, and Shorewood are the best.

Shorewood, definitely!
We always go to Palmetto Dunes and have stayed at Captain%26#39;s Walk, Villamare, Barrington and Windsor. All have been excellent, with ocean views. We are going to Hilton Head again in May and will be staying at Huntingdon for the first time, which has a lagoon view.
We%26#39;ll keep you posted.

Dear Banana:
Why avoid Singleton Beach? The inlet? Just wondering what the problem is because we were thinking of renting a place there next March Break, glad for your input.
Thanks,
The reason I originally asked about the beach was that a website I found reported that ';while dangerous condition such as riptides and undertows can exist on any beach, the Folly is an area where swimmers have gotten in trouble.'; (See www.hhisleinfo.com/beaches.htm for further information on each area). When I contacted a place located on Singleton Beach, they described it as being in the area known as Folly Field Beach. Hence my own questions about the riptides and the response above from Banana.
That%26#39;s all I know!
I%26#39;m still looking and now have guidance from each of you who%26#39;ve responded. Thanks!
