Beach front restaurant/bar?

We%26#39;re looking for a decent beach front restaurant and bar. You know the kind, it%26#39;s laid back, not fancy, but a cool atmosphere - for drinks and a great sandwich of some sort. I know there are so called %26#39;restaurants%26#39; in the hotels, but I%26#39;m not so sure I consider that a TRUE beach front restaurant. We had visited a great beach rest./bar in the Outer Banks, and I guess I%26#39;m looking for something comparable. It had outdoor seating, tables (inside and out), and an area where you could walk out and play volleyball if you felt so inclined (I don%26#39;t, HET.) Anyhow, just looking for something similar. Any thoughts?

Thanks!

Where are you staying? What time of year?

In NMB you have Molly Darcy%26#39;s in the Cresent Beach section.

In Cherry Grove you have Driftwood at the Cherry Grove Pier.

More of a bar than restaurant is Harold%26#39;s By The Ocean.

Couple other possibilities in NMB and surrounding area.

there is a restaurant at pier 14 that seemed nice enough,it also has outdoor seating.

You would be looking for Bummz Beach cafe. It is located around 21st avenue north on ocean blvd, and is oceanfront, outside dining, etc. Pretty much everything you ask for. They have a website if you are interested in poking around.

One place we like to eat is RiverCity Cafe in Surfside, now it is not exactly what you asking for. But they DO have good burgers and sandwhichs and serve drinks. They also have a balcony that overlooks the ocean. This is a very reasonable place to eat (burger platters with fries/slaw--with coupon is around $6). They also have other sandwhichs. They give you a bucket of peanuts and you throw the shells on the floor. We like eating here because: 1) decent food 2) reasonable price and it is right on the ocean. Most places you pay to have ocean front dining. Might be a ncie place to check out for lunch. There are other Rivercity Cafe%26#39;s but I thnk this is the only one right on the ocean. Right down the beach is where you can go para-sailing (a blast!)---and a few other water related actiivities.
