What would best hotel be for a gregarious group coming for long weekend in early June (yes we are planning early). Want something in historic district walking distance to restaurants, bars etc. and want old-world charm not cookie cutter. I think I have narrowed it down to Vendue Inn (though some reviews say rooms are shabby, walls are thin and street noise is horrible); Market Pavillion (some say service lacking and street noise also an issue) or French Quarter Inn (no real downside but no rooftop bar either!). We are likely to be out relatively late and arent so quiet ourselves so maybe the noise issue isnt problematic??? Please help.
Charleston Hotel for a reunion of friends in late 30s?I don%26#39;t think you need to worry about street noise at night. On the whole, Charleston is very quiet - no heavy traffic, like you can get in larger, newer cities. Main street noise would be from the pedestrain traffic of vacationers, like yourselves.
Charleston Hotel for a reunion of friends in late 30s?kiawahvilla is right about street noise. We stayed at the Mills House in the historic district and were amazed at how quiet the streets were at night (well, even during the day!). There is very little traffic. One of the neatest things we did was to get up before sunrise and go for a walk through the historic district. No one, and I really mean no one, was around. It was very nice.
