September in HHI

Our family has vacationed in HHI annually for the past 20 years, but always in July, and usually for only a long weekend. This year we will be going for a week in September. We%26#39;re staying in Palmetto Dunes, and have a few ';favorite'; places to eat and things to do, but since we%26#39;ve always vacationed during the summer, wonder what life is like since most of the summer crowd will not be there. (Looking forward to that!)

Here are my questions:

- Does Shelter Cove have fireworks on Tuesdays in the fall?

- We will be travelling with another family for the first time, and will have 4 boys in age from 14 to 20, plus 2 17 year old girls. Is there any sort of skate or bike park for our teenagers, some place where parents could hang out while kids play?

- Crowne Plaza is the only seafood buffet we%26#39;ve been to in the last several years - are there any others you%26#39;d recommend?

- Any other restaurant recommendations for a group of 10 - we will not be looking for upscale dining, but do want good quality and service.

- Last question - we typically shop at Piggly Wiggly in Shelter Cove area, because it%26#39;s convenient to PD. Can anyone recommend another grocery (Publix or Bi-Lo - we%26#39;ve never been to these). We%26#39;re also interested in cooking our own fresh seafood, is there a good seafood market where we can buy our own?

Sorry for so many questions, and thanks for any help! :)

September in HHI

Fireworks ended last week.

Chaplin Park is nearby, but bicycle trails are available thru all of the PD resort. Another nice park is Jarvis Creek. This is located near Walmart.

Prescotts which is near Seapines Circle has a Seafood Buffet. The Westin has a great one, but pricey.

You will find most restaurants cen meet your requirements, but you should call and make reservations, so that they can set a table for your party.

We shop almost only at Publix and Harris Teeter on the north end. We also buy special meats at the Fresh Market. As for fresh off the boat Seafood, try the Piggly Wiggly at Coligny. You can also get fresh off the boat at Benny Hudson%26#39;s on Squire Pope Road (this is not the same as Hudson%26#39;s restaurant). Of the public markets, Publix is best for seafood, buy on Monday or Thursday, when they receive their fresh shipments.

Thank you Stan. After posting my questions, I read more of the forum and found some info, primarily where to buy fresh seafood. I%26#39;m sorry we%26#39;ll miss fireworks, as that%26#39;s always fun to do on a night cruise, but didn%26#39;t really expect that they last year round.

Warm regards.
