Sunday Buffet at Seafare Seafood Restaurant Questions

Good afternoon TA friends. I have greatly appreciated all of the wonderful advice on this forum and we are looking forward to your vacation later this month.

Since we are staying in Murrells Inlet, we are looking at the Seafare Restaurant for Sunday Brunch, but have several questions that I hope can be answered.

1) Quality - This restaurant was listed as the 3rd best Sunday brunch by the Sun News, but the reviews about this restaurant on TA have not been that great. Would love to hear from someone who has been there for brunch.

2) Mermaids and Pirates - Another consideration for this restaurant is that I understand that they have staff dressed as mermaids and pirates that my kids would love, but I am not certain if these child-friendly features are available for the brunch or only for the evening buffet.

It has been difficiult to get info regarding Seafare because they don%26#39;t have a functional website and apparently they had two locations at one time (It is my understanding that their location in Surfside is open and Murrells Inlet is closed.), but it is confusing because some websites still list Seafare as MI address.

If the Seafare doesn%26#39;t pan out, I would to here about other Sunday brunch or breakfast suggestions for us. Don%26#39;t think we would want to make the drive to Chestnut Hill or House of Blues which I understand have great Sunday brunches.

We personally thought the HOB Sunday Brunch was HORRIBLE. IT was the most unorganized mess to begin with-the serving line is stuck in a small area by the kitchen and its impossible to move around once inside. The only thing edible was the omelet and it was not good but at least it was warm, everything else we had was cold. Then to add insult to injury the service was non-existant. So that is our HOB Buffet experience.

I will never go back to house of blues...that was a bad experience for us too.

Olivers in Murrell%26#39;s Inlet has Sunday Brunch that is really good too.

My wife %26amp; I use the term ';Seafare'; to describe the worst imaginable dining experience ever. Aside from the food being cold, bland, and dried out, the taste was nearly indistinguishable from one item to the next.

The service was similarly inadequate, and even the mermaid, who was to have been ';swimming in her own pool,'; was perched on a stool reading a book. The pirates must have mutinied! Just before we left, we saw a diner being reprimanded for taking a lobster that, they were told, was there ';for display purposes only.'; Then, to add insult to injury, we were brutally accosted by pushy time share barkers as we tried to pay for our ';meal'; and exit.

Also, the Seafare%26#39;s MI location has been closed for some time now (gee, I wonder why?) and the only one I know of is on 17 in GC or Surfside so maybe not that convenient for you anyway.

If you just want a good buffet breakfast, go to Ryans.

Thanks for the helpful responses. Looks like we will respectfully take a pass on both Seafare and House of Blues.

Now, we are taking a look at the Sea Captain%26#39;s House for breakfast.

Any comments?

I was hoping to find something closer to MI, but I think we will plan to drive to Sea Captain%26#39;s for breakfast, go to BATB and see MB proper on our first full day in MB.
