we%26#39;ll be there this Fri. afternoon and would like to walk and explore for a cocktail and then possibly different spot for dinner. Suggestions?
restaurants walking distance from Hyatt?
Walking distance varies from person to person. There are over 70 restaurants in downtown Greenville and every one of them is less than a mile away from the Hyatt, which I would typically consider walking distance. What do you consider walking distance?. Also, what kind of food do you like? You can get entrees from $5 to $35 in Greenville. Do you have an amount that you don%26#39;t want to exceed?
restaurants walking distance from Hyatt?
true... anything under a mile is fine. We don%26#39;t have a real tight budget, but would rather be in an interesting/fun atmosphere than quiet fine-dining type environment. Steaks, seafood, southwestern, Italian are some of our favorites.
We were in Greenville last weekend and enjoyed a wonderful meal at The Overlook Grill. We sat outside on the patio overlooking Falls Park. Even if you do not stop here for dinner, take a walk through the park and over the bridge. It%26#39;s beautiful.
that sounds wonderful... thanks
Here are a few ideas:
There%26#39;s a very good sushi place named Tsunami very near to the Hyatt at 106 E. North St.
Another choice nearby is Blue Ridge Brewing Company at 217 N Main St. They brew their own beer and have some good sandwiches and some interesting specials.
Addy%26#39;s at 17 E Coffee St is a Dutch bar and restaurant that I enjoy.
Lemongrass, a nice little Thai restaurant, is at 106 N. Main.
There is a Caribbean restaurant named Island Blend Jerk %26amp; BBQ at 28 South Main Street (on the right side of Main Street if you are walking toward Falls Park). Inexpensive and different - do you like goat? : )
A little further down you have Barley%26#39;s taproom - good pizza, lots of microbrew and craft beer on tap, and Wild Wings - great wings. Both are on West Washington St.
At 14 W. McBee you%26#39;ll find the Cazbah, a tapas restaurant that is one of my favorites.
At 121 South Main is Trattorio Giorgio%26#39;s, a great little Italian Bistro. It has white tableclothes, but it%26#39;s an interesting place to eat none the less.
At 207 S. Main is Soby%26#39;s, a Southern regional restaurant that is very popular in Greenville.
As you pass the Reedy Rver, you%26#39;ll get to Riverplace, where you%26#39;ll find High Cotton (a well-regarded Charleston Restaurant that just opened its 2nd location in Greenville) and the Lazy Goat, which is a mediterranean-themed restaurant that was just opened by the Soby%26#39;s people.
Across from Riverplace is Falls Park, where you%26#39;ll see the Overlook Grill, which was recommended by another poster.
There are some interesting choices further down Main Street around the West End Field, but I haven%26#39;t tried them, so I won%26#39;t comment.
Thanks so much. We%26#39;re sure to find something with all of these wonderful suggestions.
2 OTHER RESTAURANTS THAT ARE IN THE MAIN STREET AREA AND WITHIN WALKING DISTANCE (IF YOU DON%26#39;T MIND WALKING 5-7 BLOCKS).
BELLACINO%26#39;S: I%26#39;ve heard it%26#39;s great- good pizza and pasta. A friend of mine LOVES it and is a regular there. I%26#39;ve only seen it from the outside. On 123 S Main Street, across from Westin Poinsett hotel. Probably about 5 blocks from Hyatt.
Mellow Mushroom: EXCELLENT pizza, not the quickest service. on 1 Augusta St # 201. If you walk to the very end of Main St and turn left onto Augusta, it will be shortly thereafter on your left.
Rio Grille; 802 S Main St- also a bit of a walk from the Hyatt. It%26#39;s a Brazilian restaurant, claims to be the 1st in Greenville (I think that%26#39;s right- I%26#39;ve never heard of another Brazilian restaurant here). It%26#39;s delicious, rodicio style, all you can eat rotisserie style fresh carved meats and salads and sides. It%26#39;s a bit pricey, but definitely worth trying.
Let us know how your stay goes!!
