Leaving for Myrtle Beach 8/24....

My husband and 3 boys (15,14,13) and I will be leaving MN on 8/24 and driving to MB. We will be there 8/26-31, before we have to head back to MN, and get back the day before school starts here.

I have read through all the pages of this thread, and have a couple questions.

1. Is Ms. Fish still open? It was recommended in 2005 but when I tried to search for it on the MB site you recommended for restaurants, it doesn%26#39;t come up.

2. Entertainment / Happenings book- Do any of the South Carolina books have MB restaurants/attractions in them? (The Charleston edition maybe?)

3. Are there any of the restaurants you have recommended in the list above that have specials that you don%26#39;t want to miss on a certain day of the week?

The boys are like a bottomless pit where food is concerned, and I know food is going to the the lion%26#39;s share of the cost of our trip.

I love a good value, but hate when I have gotten sucked in by ';specials'; that end up costing more because of extra charges or add-on%26#39;s etc.

Are there any particular places to get good coupons, and any to avoid?

There are coupon books all over MB. Also at Resturant.com you can buy $25 gift certificates for $10. Cheaper if you have a the special code at checkout. I%26#39;m not sure the current code. Maybe somebody else does. I learned about the site on the forum. Enjoy!!! My family will be there the same time.

Thanks for the code. I had looked some on Restaurant.com, but didn%26#39;t have a code and some of the one%26#39;s I wanted were already unavailable till next month. A few others seemed pretty restrictive as far as use on certain days etc.

I have done no packing for the trip yet at all.

I had to go overnight last week for work and left a few things in the suitcase, but plan on packing next Thursday.

Nothing like waiting till the last minute.

I did go to restaurant.com and got some certificates.

There was one for thoroughbreds, and I know they are really spendy, but our 18th anniversary is o the 26th, so I thought it would be nice for just my husband and I to go there, and get pizza for the boys on our of the other gift certificates.

This seems like such a deal...do the restaurants cringe when they see you come with the certificates?

I hope Long Bay is nice...The reviews are mixed, and I think someone put it well that some people will be happy with one place while others are not because we like different things.

Have you visited MB before?

This will be our first trip there...

We went to NYC last year....

We returned from MB August 3rd. If your room has a kitchen in it, we went to food lion (but according to the posts Kroger%26#39;s is cheaper) and bought breakfast foods, none of us are big breakfast fans, so we had donuts, juice, milk, fruit and crereal for breakfast along with cold meat sandwiches when none of us were hungry at the same time. We had coupons from the monster coupon book which I paid 5.00 for online. It has pizza coupons in it and twice we brought pizza hut back to the room and once Burger King. Our most expensive meal was at the Hard Rock (but 2 had ribs) followed by Friday%26#39;s and Margarittaville. We were first timers also and had a wonderful time. Enjoy!
