how to do the carriage tours

We will be in Charleston for a day trip. The last time we were there we did the market %26amp; loved it, bbut I really want to go on a carriage tour...mu question is... do you recommend a private tour or the big group? who has the best or does it matter? Do you tip the driver? How much? and, we want a true lowcountry place to eat between here %26amp; MB...where do you recommend???

I%26#39;ve always done the group tour and never been disappointed. I%26#39;ve used Palmetto Carriage Tours in the ';Red Barn'; for school groups, too - they are great. RE: tips...you know, we built ours in for the school tour, but I always tip when I%26#39;m on my own. Check out Palmetto%26#39;s website - should be a guide on there. One thing to note - the carriage tours draw a number before departure to determine their route - so you don%26#39;t know ahead of time exactly what you will be seeing. It%26#39;s all good, though...and it leaves a little something for you to see on another tour.
