Pirate cruise?

I have two small children. Is this Pirate Adventure Cruise worth doing?

Thanks,

Pirate cruise?

Absolutely! The trip is really geared towards the younger set....even tho%26#39; I%26#39;ve seen many an adult wanting to be a pirate too! Argh! (me included!) The guy that portrays the pirate is very good (you actually think he is a pirate!) and very knowledgeable of the area too!

I know they used to do a priate trip out of the Murrells Inlet area too....I think that was thru Capt Dicks (www.captdicks.com) Not for sure if they still do, but there is alot of pirate lore in that area too.

Another neat tour type event you might look into is the Carolina Jeep Safari. They really do a great job. Its about 3 hours long, in an open air jeep, seeing alot of things off the beaten path. The narrator on this trip is also very knowledgeable about the local ghost lore, animals, and enviorment of the area.

Then there is the Dolphin Adventure Cruise out of the Calabash area (www.hurricanefleet.com) which is alot of fun. Very informative, you get to see one of ';those shrimp boats'; up close. See what type of cratures are out there in our oceans.

I really like these types of tours for young kids. Its alot of fun, plus a great learning experience!

Pirate cruise?

I completely agree with MBC...the Pirate Adventure Cruise is fantastic as well as the Carolina Jeep Safari. I have never been on the dolphin cruise although I would love to check it out sometime. Have fun!

I have also seen the advertisements for the pirate cruise, and thought it may be interesting. Have either of the MB experts been on the Ghosts and Legends tour, I think it may be at Broadway at the Beach? Does it also have history and folklore? Wondering if it is worth trying also?

Yugie,

The Ghosts and Legends is at Barefoot Landing. I love this show...guess I really like all the folklore and ghostlore we have in these parts. The show is presented in this room that is set up like an old plantation house (the stage area anyway) and the ghosts appear as themselves and tell their tales! its great.. You have Alice Flagg, Blackbeard and Gray Man just to name a few! Check out their website at

Good info..here.. sounds like activities my kids would like..

cattailgal,

Just wondering if you%26#39;d taken the cruise and had a report on it. I%26#39;m taking the family down to the area in late August and am interested in taking the kids on one. Their ages are 7 and 4, and both love pirates. Just wondering if it%26#39;s age appropriate.

The one at Great American Riverboat cruises is advertised as being for young kids:

Pirate Cruise 鈥?1 1/2 hours

Ahoy mates! Enjoy face painting, watergun fights and games for the kids.

Adult: $14.00, Youth (3-12): $7.00, Child (2 %26amp; under): Free

but when you all up their info line, the Pirate Cruises are at 9p.m. and is called a Pirate/Ghost story trip. Probably not something I%26#39;d want to take my 4-year-old to.

Any info you have on either of these cruises would be great.

TIA!

Even though it is at 9p is it too scary for a four year old?

It is definitely worth it...the kids will love it. I also agree with MBC that the Carolina Jeep Safari is very fun as well. Enjoy!
